ADJUSTABILITY SIMPLIFIED
SIMPLE FABRICATIOn: SAY GOODBYE TO DOUBLE LAMINATIONS.
Use less material and shorten fabrication time. The SPINNER VMS utilizes an internal heat moldable panel that is molded prior to socket fabrication . After the panel has been molded simply bond the molding dummy to the panel and finish fabrication of the socket. It’s that easy.

FAST INSTALLATION and REMOVAL.
The SPINNER VMS installs into the socket wall in minutes …just like a two-part valve. The SPINNER VMS is a removable assembly and can be transferred from socket to socket.

STRONGER LIGHTER WEIGHT SOCKETS.
Say goodbye to double laminations and heavy sockets. Because no socket cutouts are necessary a thinner socket wall can be fabricated. The BLACKFIN SPINNER VMS can be installed into single wall laminations and single pull plastic sockets. (Flexible inner socket recommended)
FASTER SOCKET FINISHING.
Save time on the socket finishing procedures, Because the SPINNER system uses hidden internal panels there is no need to cut out socket panels and do the necessary finish work. This results in a lighter weight, stronger socket.

MECHANISM PUSHING ON SOCKET
DIRECT DRIVE MECHANICAL ADVANTAGE.
The SPINNER VMS uses a direct drive mechanism which eliminates the need for cables and socket channels to provide movement to the panel systems of the socket. The direct drive unit minimizes repair time and simplifies installation. Standard and Heavy Duty

AESTHETIC SOCKET APPEARANCE.
The SPINNER VMS has nice socket lines with no cable veins and abrupt panel protrusions.

NICE SOCKET
BUILD ADJUSTABILITY INTO EVERY SOCKET FOR FUTURE NEEDS.
The BLACKFIN SPINNER starter kit can be used to mold in adjustability at a minimal expense and nominal fabrication effort. The SPINNER VMS unit can be installed at a later date.

CODING AND REIMBURSEMENT
BLACKFIN IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THE NEWLY APPROVED CODE L5783 & L7406 FOR ADJUSTABLE SOCKET KITS WHICH APPLIES TO THE BLACKFIN SPINNER ADJUSTABLE SOCKET SYSTEM KIT.
L5783: “ADDITION TO LOWER EXTREMITY, USER ADJUSTABLE, MECHANICAL, RESIDUAL LIMB VOLUME MANAGEMENT SYSTEM”
The new policy article (52496) for L5783 describes a complete mechanical product used as an addition to current lower extremity prosthetic base socket and socket replacement codes. This system is a kit of components (reel, cable, or similar) incorporated into a custom-fabricated socket. The beneficiary can manually adjust their socket volume throughout the day, decrease or increase. Code L5999 (LOWER EXTREMITY PROSTHESIS, NOT OTHERWISE SPECIFIED) must not be used to bill for any features or functions included in the socket or addition codes. Use of L5999 is incorrect coding (unbundling).
The BLACKFIN SPINNER VMS (Volume Management System) functions (and looks) very similar to traditional adjustable socket systems that loosen and tighten panels in the prosthetic socket. However, the SPINNER VMS KIT uses a threaded mechanical assembly to move molded panels inward and outward in the custom prosthetic socket to allow the user increase or decrease the socket volume without having to cut the socket wall to form panels. The BLACKFIN SPINNER VMS offers comparable socket adjustability & functionality as traditional systems. The SPINNER kit includes a bi-directional control dial, drive rod, base plate, tensioning mechanism, retention nut, limiter, moldable panel, and molding dummy. The SPINNER VMS must be incorporated into a custom molded socket via the kit instructions.
L7406: Addition to upper extremity, user adjustable, mechanical, residual limb volume management system.
The new L-code and will be active and valid for claims with dates of service on or after April 1, 2025.
